Azelis Acquires Benelux Distributor Smoky Light

Specialty chemicals and food ingredients distributor Azelis has acquired 100% of Benelux smoke ingredients distributor Smoky Light.

The company said the acquisition reinforces its position in the Benelux market and expands its footprint in the smoke ingredient market of EMEA.

Smoky Light’s product portfolio, Azelis added, strategically complements the Antwerp, Belgium-based group’s lateral value chain for the food & nutrition market, thereby further expanding its expertise and product offering to customers.

Established in 1995 and located in Reeuwijk, the Netherlands, Smoky Light specializes in smoke, grill, browning agents and cooking flavors and additives and additionally has its own formulation laboratory. Following the deal’s closing, Ahrend Buckers will continue to lead the business and support the integration into Azelis.

Thanks to Azelis’strong infrastructure in the market, Buckers said his company will be able to enter a wider smoke ingredients industry.  Evy Hellinckx, managing director Azelis Benelux, added that integrating Smoky Light will reinforce Azelis’ footprint in the Netherlands and Belgium and also further strengthen Azelis' expertise and activities in smoke ingredients, building on its growth strategy.
